What is Blue light?
Blue light waves are emitted from our cell phones, laptops, TV screens, LED lighting and tablets. This type of light has been scientifically proven to negatively impact our body and produce symptoms such as:
- Digital eye strain
- Blurry vision
- Physical & mental fatigue
- Poor sleep
Blue light has such a profound impact on your sleep simply because it directly affects your body's production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Melatonin is responsible for making you feel sleepy, and blue light suppresses the production of this important hormone. The pineal gland in our brain secretes melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle and increases about two-to-three hours before bedtime to help you sleep. Blue light can delay the release of melatonin, which can shift our ability to fall asleep (some studies show up to three hours!)
HOW CAN THEY HELP YOUR EFFECTIVENESS?
Not only will the reduced headaches, eyestrain and mental fatigue make you more effective. Cambridge university conducted a study where they gave a group of people blue light filtering glasses over a period of time and placebos over another period of time (A placebo is an inert substance or treatment which is designed to have no therapeutic value, so in this case, fake blue light filtering glasses). The goal of the study was to see if blue light could have an effect on our brain function. To measure this, they gave the applicants memory and pattern test after each period of time. The results showed that the group of people performed better on the tests after using the blue light filtering glasses compared to the placebos.
In another study, scientists looked at the effects of blue light on human eye cells. After exposing the human eye cells directly to blue light for 3 minutes they found a reduction of 50%! They conducted the same experience with blue light filtering glasses and the reduction was only 15%
Personal AppreciationWhen I was in college, I got a really bad concussion in a Football game which led me to not being able to participate in any lectures or do any kind of school work for more than two months. I was about to fail all of my glasses because i got really bad headaches and blurry vision from sitting on my computer. Luckily my eye doctor advised me to try out blue light filtering glasses. I am extremely grateful to him, since this had a great effect and was the reason I was able to finish that semester without failing a single class. I was finally able to be on my computer and focus for longer periods of time without any headaches or blurry vision. The only problem was that these glasses were so hideous that i would refuse to wear them to class, and i could not find any well designed blue light filtering glasses. This is where we got our idea to provide you with a pair of glasses that can increase your health while simultaniously improve your looks.
